The first Highland Haggis Festival proved to be a great success after exceeding the organisers expectations. The festival took place in Spean Bridge on Saturday (11/04/15) celebrating the iconic traditional Scottish dish.

The day had a programme of free events including haggis cookery demonstrations with local chefs from The Old Station Restaurant, Russell’s Restaurant and world-renowned Haggis producer Macsween’s chef Colin Busey.

Colin did a number of cookery demonstrations including a special recipe from five year old Sarah Burton who won the children’s haggis recipe competition.

Sarah designed a dish called Pan Haggisy which included sliced carrots, potato, onions a layer of haggis topped with cheese.

Other recipes demonstrated by Colin included vegetarian haggis empanadas, haggis scotch eggs and haggis burgers.

The Cookery Theatre Company supplied their specialist Demo-Station live event mobile demo kitchen.

The event was a great success and we hope to be back again next year!
